Hi there,

Welcome to my first meandering thoughts, it feels a little strange, but also liberating to have begun.

Three years ago I waved goodbye to my very British life and moved to Mallorca to start again in a quieter way. I had spent many years running up and down the halls of old educational establishments as a school secretary, now I work remotely from home, which means my days are shaped by my computer, the sea, my family and our dog and the slow rhythm of island life.

I have always loved writing as opposed to talking. I keep a daily diary, noting the small things I observe, the changing seasons and thoughts both fleeting and totally consuming. Now that my mind is quieter I notice enjoyment in calm reflection rather than performing, which is why you are reading my meandering thoughts.

Living here is beautiful, but ever changing. Some days are peaceful and light; others are complicated, hot, tiring and occasionally lonely. I swim in the sea most mornings helping me feel connected to the place I live. There is something magical about starting the day floating, mesmerised by the patterns sparkling below making me feel that everything is a little more doable.

I am naturally curious and skip from one book or article to another, there is a carefully stacked selection of books by my bed, with markers as evidence of various stages of reading.

My Weekly Meanderings will be for the quieter parts of life: starting over in my new life abroad, learning to navigate the world in a new language, making sense of ordinary days, and finding meaning in the details.

I will share books, websites and tips I find useful now and then, always honestly and only when I think they are genuinely worth it.

Thank you for being here and I hope you will stay.
